The Norochcholai Coal Power Plant (NCPP) complex had coal to generate power for just 80 more days, internal sources say.

They said that right now Unit 2 of the power plant was closed for maintenance. Although it will be back in operation within two months, the Unit 3 of the power plan would have to be taken offline for annual maintenance thereafter.

The officials at the plant have urged the government to place coal orders as soon as possible given that coal prices were rising in the world market with many countries turning back to coal to generate power in view of the western sanctions on Russian gas supplies.
