Foreign investments encouraged in local medicines production

With the government prioritizing the production of medicines locally, foreign investors now have the opening for related ventures in Sri Lanka, said health minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

Especially Korean investors could make use of the opportunity with their high expertise in the field, he told Korea’s ambassador Woonjin Jeong at a meeting yesterday (18).

The government intends to raise medicines production locally under a targeted programme, he said.

Rambukwella thanked Korea for its medicines and health equipment donations since the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ambassador Jeong commended Sri Lanka for overcoming the virus, and also said Sri Lanka’s quota in the Korean job market has been raised.
