First Lady and Chair Professor English and Senior Professor Department of English, University of Kelaniya Maithree Wickramasinghe yesterday delivered the Keynote Address at the First Research Symposium on Gender Equity and Equality (RSGEE) 2022 organised by The Centre for Gender Equity and Equality, University of Jaffna.

The conference was titled ‘Achieving Sustainable Development in the New Normal through Gender Reconciliation and Equality” at the University of Jaffna.

RSGEE – 2022 is one of the satellite conferences of JUICE 2022. The aim of the conference is to provide an open forum for national and international researchers to submit their research papers, surveys, and case studies to wider audiences making them aware of gender equity and equality and to deepen the global dialogue for learning and action on different dimensions and dynamics of gender inequality and to present and share knowledge on good practices and innovative interventions

Invited speakers were Dr.Kumudika Boyagoda Department of Demography Faculty of Arts University of Colombo and Prof Pavithra Kilasapathy, Department of Human Resources Management Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo.

Associate Professor of English and Women’s Studies, Department of English Colgate University New York Prof Nimanthi Rajasingham was also an invited speaker at this research conference.
