Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday submitted a report to Parliament which contains all the information related to the purchase of fuel from January to October 1 this year.
The Minister said that this report includes all the information related to the fuel purchases made according to the tender process and outside the tender process during the past ten months.
The Minister also said that MPs make frequent inquiries from time to time regarding information related to fuel purchases. Presenting the report, the Minister further stated that this report has been submitted for the use of the MPs as well as for the attention of the National Assembly.
Various inquiries were continuously made regarding the information related to the import of fuel. Members of Parliament requested various information about the importation of fuel in the recent past. This report includes the amount of tender submitted for the purchase of fuel, the amount of fuel submitted outside of the tender and the amount accepted.
