Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardana and Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay participated in religious activities at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura before launching the railway renovation project from Mahawa to Omanthai. They also called on Anuradhapura Atamasthanadipathi Most Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera. The Nayaka Thera said that the project would help consolidate the friendship between Sri Lanka and India and provide a more efficient transport service for the public. Officials of the Indian High Commission and officials of the Transport and Highways Ministry and the Sri Lanka Railways General Manager also attended the event.
