Parliamentary authorities have refused to disclose the educational qualifications of members of parliament. Parliamentary authorities are of the opinion that disclosing the educational qualifications of the MPs could be considered as a violation of their privacy.

The Sunday Times has requested information on the educational qualifications of Members of Parliament under the Right to Information Act. In response, the Parliamentary Information Officer and the Assistant Secretary General have refused to provide the relevant information.

The educational qualifications of the people’s representatives have been talked about in society for a long time, however, according to the Constitution, educational qualifications are not relevant for acting as public representatives.
