Those who would participate in tomorrow’s protests should be considered traitors, an MP said today. UNP MP Vajira Abeywardene told a media briefing that everyone who participates in tomorrow’s protest should be considered traitors as they will be playing a role in precipitating the country’s economic crisis.

“Sri Lanka has managed to achieve some kind of stability with prices of essential goods being reduced to some extent and the pickup of the tourism sector. However, the country may lose all these achievements with such protests,” he said.

“Some political groups have been misled by some international forces to further destabilize Sri Lanka,” he added. “Sri Lanka will be consolidated in a year if the people manage to work intelligently and remain calm,” he said.
