The covid 19 virus has spread again in the Parliament complex. 275 rapid antigen tests were carried out in Parliament this morning. Twelve people have been identified as infected.

Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando said in a statement that it has been decided to continue the day to day activities of the parliament with a minimum staff from tomorrow.

Necessary action will be taken regarding the associations of the identified infected persons and the people who need to be quarantined will be informed. Measures have also been taken to disinfect Parliament.

It was decided at a meeting of party leaders yesterday to limit this week’s parliamentary sessions to today only.
