All the patriotic, people’s friendly and land-loving promises and policies made before the people in the aim of seizing power have been shattered away like being spat on the face in the government’s recent move of selling 40 per cent of shares owned by West Coast Power Company operating the Yuganadavi Power Plant to New Fortress Energy, a US-based company, thereby endangering Sri Lanka’s energy sector, emphasised Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa in a special statement issued today (23).
Anyone outside the control of a country’s energy has the power to control the land itself, he pointed out, stressing that the entire people of Sri Lanka, including Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), are encamped against this most arbitrary act of the government.
